Kaplag-Buwad Festival is one of the highlighted events in San Nicolas Proper. It is celebrated every third Sunday of the month of April. All sitios are contingents on the said event. The venue of the said event is on Tabo-An Public Market.
"Kaplag" means the finding of Señor Santo Niño and was believed that Señor Sto. Niño was found in San Nicolas. Every Sinulog, a replica of Him in the church of San Nicolas is sent to Basilica del Santo Niño. In every Kaplag-Buwad Festival, an reenactment of his finding is seen in all dances.

"Buwad" is obviously derived from one of the delicious foods found in San Nicolas. It is sold at Tabo-an Public Market. You can find variety of buwad all in affordable prices. Many people coming from other places and even tourists buy a lot of buwad. As what San Nicolasnians always say "Bahalag buwad ang sud-an basta lami".

Street dancing of all contingents are seen on the day of the festival. As you can see, the queen holds Señor Sto. Niño as she was dancing. The street dancing passes all sitios in San Nicolas.
As you can see, huge paintings are part of the props of the dance. This is to emphasize the presence of Buwad in the festival.

Together with my friends, we joined in the festival as our tribute to Señor Sto. Niño. In spite of the body-dehydrating practices, heavy costumes and props, and skin-burning street dance, all of those were paid off as we stood on the stage and danced.
